The course will explain what these principles are, how they might arise and apply in practice and critically examine the nature and future of professional conduct for lawyers in Canada. You will develop a sense of what the profession is about and what lawyers’ professional roles and responsibilities are. The course aims to help students to think about what professional issues arise in practice, how they arise and how they can – and in some cases must – be dealt with.

Course Objectives

  • Prepare students to successfully complete the NCA Exam in Professional Responsibility*
  • Introduce and explain the relevant concepts and selections from materials to assist with exam preparation
  • Explain how these concepts arise and apply in real-world scenarios
  • Critically examine the nature and future of professional conduct for lawyers in Canada
  • Offer an opportunity to apply knowledge to practice questions and provide feedback
  • Review exam writing techniques to assist in the successful completion of the NCA exams

*The NCA Exam Preparation are professional development courses and do not require approval under the Private Career Colleges Act of Ontario, 2005.
