TSoM Team Takes First Place at Minute School’s ‘Capture the Flag’ Competition

Toronto School of Management (TSoM) hosted its first-ever Capture the Flag (CTF) Cybersecurity Competition on February 4th, 2023. Competitors from educational institutions and companies were able to put their knowledge to the test as they worked to find and fix vulnerabilities in a simulated real-world system. The competition was a thrilling showcase of the skills and talents of Toronto’s future cybersecurity professionals.

Teams from various institutions joined this exciting event, including York University, Seneca College, Durham College’s Centre for Cybersecurity Innovation and AI Hub, Youth Employment Services, The Career Foundation, and our own Cybersecurity Specialist Co-Op Diploma program teams: the TSoM Defenders, the TSoM Eagles, the TSoM Guardians, and the TSoM Shields. The competition lasted five hours and first place was taken by the TSoM Eagles, comprised of TSoM Diploma in Cybersecurity Specialist Co-Op students Danyal Ahmed, Guilherme Badu Da Silva and Marinel Bordelon Villarreal.

Durham College’s Centre for Cybersecurity and Innovation team took second place (Dhruvin Shah, Manoj Senthil, Tushar Arora) and York University’s team placed third (Dhairya Patel, Nobelpreet Kaur, Vyomesh Jethava).

CTF Competitions are a crucial tool for the growth and development of cybersecurity students and TSoM is proud to be at the forefront of this important and rapidly evolving field. We look forward to continuing to train talented cybersecurity professionals and to the next CTF competition!
